INDICATIONS

SULFAVET is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial indicated for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria susceptible to the combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is effective against infections of the respiratory, digestive, and urinary tracts.

SPECIES: Dogs and Cats.

DOSAGE

• Dogs: 5 ml per 15 kg of body weight (equivalent to 16 mg per kg of body weight), every 12 hours for 7 days.
• Cats: 1.5 ml per 5 kg of body weight (equivalent to 14.4 mg per kg of body weight), every 12 hours for 5 days.

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Oral.

WARNINGS AND/OR RESTRICTIONS

• Keep the patient hydrated; folic acid supplementation is recommended for prolonged treatment.
• Reduce the dose in patients with renal impairment.
• Avoid use in pregnant females.
• Discontinue use immediately if allergic reactions occur.
• Vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, polydipsia, and polyuria may occur.
• Proper antibiotic management reduces antimicrobial resistance.
• Avoid underdosing.
• Use is recommended based on laboratory diagnosis.
• Store in a cool, dry place between 15-30°C and protected from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• All unused veterinary medicinal product, waste derived from veterinary medicinal product, and empty containers should be disposed of safely in accordance with local regulations, avoiding contamination of water sources.
