INDICATIONS
Indicated for the treatment of internal parasites: roundworms (nematodes); Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Dirofilaria immitis (heartworm in the microfilaria stage). It also helps control mange.
DOSAGE
Mange and internal parasites in dogs and cats: 0.2 mg of ivermectin per kg of body weight (equivalent to 0.02 mL/kg and/or 0.1 mL/5 kg of body weight). Administer 2 or 3 doses at 2-week intervals, at the discretion of the veterinarian.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Subcutaneous only.
WARNINGS
- Always dose according to weight.
- Do not administer intramuscularly or intravenously.
- There is no specific antidote: symptomatic and supportive treatment.
- Avoid concurrent use with medications that cause central nervous system depression.
- Its use is not recommended in dog breeds susceptible to the formula’s components, such as Collie, Collie mixes, Old English Sheepdog, Australian Shepherd, Miniature Australian Shepherd, and Shetland Sheepdog, due to the MDR1 gene mutation (a recessive gene that allows some medications to cross the blood-brain barrier).
- Do not administer to dogs and cats under 6 weeks of age to avoid adverse reactions.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Protect from direct sunlight.
- Due to its toxicity, once used, avoid disposal in waterways; incinerate or bury the container or any remaining product.
